Fundraising
The trust has launched a national appeal for funds, we have been successful with three grant applications (see below) but still require match funding. We have set ourselves a target of £25,000, which covers the cost of a professional assessment of the project, design work and drawings. An incentive scheme has been introduced for donors, with rewards for both lump sum or standing order donations. The more you give the more you will receive...the incentives are detailed on the membership page.

In March 2011 the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded a grant of £465,800 to the trust to restore the Autocar and accompanying 1904 ‘autocoach. Full details
- PRISM fund

PRISM have awarded us £20,000 for the restoration of the bodywork.Full details
- Ken Hoole Trust

We have been awarded a grant of £5000 from the Ken Hoole Trust which is going towards the remedial cost of the woodwork.
- Bolton Abbey Shop

In June 2009 the Trust opened a fund-raising shop at Bolton Abbey station. This sells a range of goods, including secondhand books, railway magazines, model railway items, children’s toys, railway pictures and assorted bric a brac… We aim to have this shop open when trains are running on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, but this is not always possible given our members’ other commitments. If you are able to help staff the shop then this would be one way you could help. Any contributions of goods for sale (except electrical items) from supporters would also be gratefully received.

Join the Autocar Trust, as a member you will receive our quarterly newsletter “Autocar” with all the latest news and developments on the restoration.
Members may also be able to help us with restoration work and fundraising. We are looking for volunteers to assist with restoration (both skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome) and to staff our new shop at Bolton Abbey station.
We would welcome contributions of railwayana and bric a brac for sale in the shop at Bolton Abbey station. Please ring 01423 561 965 to confirm opening times.
